Holy Excitement!

From Fashion Week Daily:

From the Yellow Brick Road to Bryant Park
Saks Fifth Avenue and Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week's ruby slipper debut

August 11, 2008 - (NEW YORK) Manolos, Louboutins and Zanottis, oh my! Looks like Dorothy's iconic ruby slippers are undergoing a redesign. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz in 2009, Warner Bros Consumer Products and Crystallized Swarovski Elements have asked top accessory and ready-to-wear designers to reinterpret the magical footwear. To kick off Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, The Wizard of Oz Ruby Slipper Collection will debut at Saks Fifth Avenue with a gala event on September 4. The slippers will remain in the windows for a week, and several will be displayed on the 8th floor 10022-SHOE through the 14. Others will surround the fountain in Bryant Park throughout Fashion Week.

A.Testoni, Abaeté, Alberta Ferretti, Betsey Johnson, Botkier, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani, Lisa Pliner, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Roger Vivier, Sergio Rossi, Stuart Weitzman, Tibi, and Tuleh all created designs for the collection.

"We are so pleased to be hosting such a creative and innovative tribute to the American classic film The Wizard of Oz," said Steve Sadove, chairman and CEO of Saks Fifth Avenue. "The ruby slippers play an integral role in the film and Saks Fifth Avenue is honored to be the destination for the most celebrated designers and their contemporary take on these iconic shoes."

Those wishing to own these one-of-a-kind masterpieces won't be able to pay with a Saks charge. The collection will appear at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation's Kids for Kids Family Carnival at the Park Avenue Armory Building on September 20. It will then travel to Art Basel Miami Beach from December 4 to 8. In September 2009, the shoes will be auctioned with the proceeds benefiting the foundation.

Sign me up please....

It's no secret that I LOVE the Olympics. In 1996, I was lucky enough to be able to attend some of the games in Atlanta, Georgia (a hop, skip & jump away from my home at the time). I went to gymnastics and basketball. I have pins, t-shirts, books...all sorts of fun things....I even have a plush of their awesome mascot IZZY
(I mean, how cute is he)

Anyways, I was watching swimming last night and was reminded of a stud from the games in '96 and 2004 Athens; Ian Thorpe aka the Thorpedo. He was in the Beijing stands watching his Aussie pals swim and watching the golden child Michael Phelps win some more bling.

So I thought to myself "hm. what is he doing now".....well in case you were wondering the same thing, and I know you were, I googled him, found this, and knew I had to share with my friends. So without further ado I present................Ian Thorpe.
Now why is he painted like that?
Who cares.
All I have to say is: Sign Me Up!!!!

..about me..

I am....

1. The Mayor (from the Latin māior, meaning "greater") is a modern title used in many countries for the highest ranking officer in a municipal government. In many systems, the mayor is an elected politician who serves as chief executive and/or ceremonial official of many types of municipalities. Worldwide, there is a wide variance in local laws and customs regarding the powers and responsibilities of a mayor, as well as the means by which a mayor is elected or otherwise mandated.

2. One half of "The Show" which is the true life, award winning, season's 1-3 available on DVD (although Season 2 sucks and was only 2 episodes long), best reality on television right now you should probably tune in and D.V.R. it ASAP, hands down most amazing series on the planet.

3. Slightly, okay really obsessed with fashion. Fashion refers to styles of dress (but can also include cuisine, literature, art, architecture, and general comportment) that are popular in a culture at any given time. Such styles may change quickly, and "fashion" in the more colloquial sense refers to the latest version of these styles. Inherent in the term is the idea that the mode will change more quickly than the culture as a whole.
